Obituary for Melvin Williams

Melvin Williams was born on September 2, 1960, in Nicholsville, AL to the late Lille Bell and Willie Mack Williams. Melvin graduated from Wayne County High School in 1978. On November 24, 1979, Melvin married his high school sweetheart, Gale Wilson. Melvin and Gale have been married for 44 years and would have celebrated their 45th anniversary this year. Out of their union 9 children were born.

While attending Wayne County High, Melvin learned a trade in woodwork that would later aid in his construction career. Traveling back and forth to Atlanta, Melvin worked for Shephard Construction for 10 years. With his experience he later got a job closer to home working for Rayonier of Baxley, Georgia. After a long career in construction Melvin worked as an overnight associate for 14 years at Walmart.

Melvin was a jack of all trades. With his knowledge in construction Melvin helped build and remodel the homes of family and friends. He was an auto mechanic and he engineered small game traps. In his free time, Melvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, inventing and carpentry. He was a strong man who loved and cherished his family. With his kind and giving spirit he would do anything for the ones he loved.

Melvin passed away on Friday April 12, 2024, at his home. He was preceded in death by both parents, Lille Bell Williams and Willie Mack Williams, his sister, Selinda Williams.

Those left to cherish his memory: Two sisters, Betty (Clifford) Dennard of Cairo, GA, and Gladys Lee of Jesup, GA. Two brothers, Curtis Williams, and Clarence Williams both of Jesup, GA. Five daughters, Valerie (Delvin) McMillian, Yolanda Williams, both of Birmingham, AL, Lakeisha (Charles) Johnson of Wichita Falls, TX, Natasha Williams and Tiesha Williams, both of Jesup, GA; Four sons, Manuel (Roshunda) Williams of Houston, TX, Leon Williams of Stockbridge, GA, Michael (Elisabeth) Williams of Levittown, PA and Zachariah Williams of Stockbridge, GA. Twelve grandchildren, Delvin McMillian Jr., Harmony Williams, Lyric Williams, Arie Williams, Josiah Williams, Aliza Williams, Khy’rie Williams, Sloane Williams, Gideon Williams, Micah Johnson, Harper Johnson and Jaedon Fuller.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel from 6-8 pm.

Funeral services will be held on Friday April 19, 2024 @ 12pm at Grace Assembly, 2324 Rayonier Rd., Jesup, Ga 31545

Interment will be in Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery, 1570 Sunset Blvd., Jesup Ga 31545.
