Obituary for Michael Gordon Sr.

Michael Gordon, Sr. was born on December 7, 1956 to the late, Will and Irene Gordon, Sr. and was educated in the public schools of Camden County, Ga. From an early age, Michael had a relationship with the Lord and later became a minister of the Gospel. He was a member of St. James House of God Saints in Christ Holiness Church in Camden County under the leadership of Pastor Barry Hamilton, Sr. Michael was also a member of Euclid Lodge #169 Masonic in Folkston, Ga. and was a jack of all trades to include construction work, concrete finisher, fence installation and mechanic work. He was certainly a people person, never meeting a stranger and helping anyone who needed help.

Michael passed away on March 10, 2023 due to a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by both parents, Will and Irene Gordon, Sr.; brothers, Irvin Gordon, Sr., Ronnie Woods, Will Gordon, Jr. and John Gordon; sisters, Flossie Alderman and Josephine Washington Coleman; father in-law, Wilford Mitchell, Sr; mother in-law, Mary Ann Mitchell; brother in-law, William Mitchell and sister in-law, Yvonne Mitchell.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 32 years, LaShawn Gordon; his children, Michelle Gordon, Miranda Gordon, Miquita Gordon, Michael Gordon, Jr. (Kelsey); his step children, Kendrick Mitchell, Romell Mitchell, Shantara Redmon Mahummad (Jameal); his brothers, Eugene Gordon, Jimmie Gordon and Jessie Blake; his sisters, Joyce Bowe, Sandra Lawrence, Barbara Benefield, Iris Gordon and Venus Blake; his in-laws, Willie Fred Mitchell, Vandell Hannans (Verdie), Darran Mitchell, Wilford Mitchell, Jr, Tyrese Mitchell, Tyrone Mitchell, Larry Moore (Janie), Beverly Wyman (Alan), Joanne Mitchell, Natasha Mitchell, Julius Henderson (Quanita), Marilyn Griffin (Freddie), Henry McMillan (Charlotte), Vanessa McMillan, Laura Henderson and Janie Henderson; a close friend, Robert Cowart; (14) grandchildren; (1) great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends.

There will NOT be a wake. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, an hour prior to services.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023 @ 2:00 pm at Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 416 Dixie Lake Road, Folkston, Ga. 31537, with a private disposition to follow.
