Michael Edward Swint of Jesup, Georgia passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. He was born on December 10, 1960 to the late, Wilmer “Man” Swint, Sr. and Pearlean Swint of Wayne County, GA. Michael began his early education at the Wayne County Training School (Northside) and finished at Wayne County High School with the class of 1979 where he played on the Wayne County High School Varsity Basketball Team. After graduating high school, he attended South Western Technical College in Americus, GA and received his diploma in Certified Welding in 1980. As a young man, he worked as a sales clerk at Mooney’s Department Store, a recreation aide at Hall Richardson center, as well as an orderly, better known as a CNA, at Wayne Memorial Hospital. All of these jobs transitioned him to working as caregiver for the late, Attorney Joseph Thomas, as his personal caregiver. After completion of his assignment for Attorney Thomas, he was hired at Rayonier in 1984 and worked in the Wood Yard, Machine Room, and he finished his assignment as a Lubricator in the Maintenance Department.
Michael Swint joined and served at St. John’s First Born Holiness Church at a young tender age and served in many capacities throughout his life. He served as a leader in the Youth Department, Choir President, Deacon, Minister, Assistant Pastor, and last, he became Pastor of St. John in 2012. His journey into ministry started as he attended the First Born Church Seminary and Training School where he received his Christian Education Diploma in 2005. He further went on to complete his Bachelor’s of Theology in 2008 and went on to complete his Master’s of Theology in 2012. He served his God, his church, family, and his community as he believed in the charge of activism. He will always be loved and missed by many.
The wake/visitation will take place on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 pm at St. John F.B.C.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John F.B.C.
The repast will be held at Bennett Union Social Hall immediately following the funeral.
