Obituary for Nathaniel "June-Boy" Hannans Jr.

Nathaniel Hannans, Jr., 79, of Folkston. Ga., also known throughout the community as "June-Boy" gained his wings on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida following a lengthy illness. He was born on April 14, 1944, to the late, Nathaniel Hannans, Sr. aka "Honeybun" and Martha Byrd and loved as well by his devoted stepmother, Rosa Lee Hannans (wife of Nathaniel Hannans, Sr.). He was employed with his paternal family’s logging business (Hannans Logging), and as an independent auto repair mechanic for most of his life. Nathaniel Hannans, Jr. was a member of Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Nathaniel Hannans, Sr. and Martha Byrd; his stepmother, Rosa Lee Hannans; his sisters, Ethel Lee Hannans, Ruby Fuller, Sylveda Hannans and his brother, Sylvester Hannans.

He leaves to mourn his passing: his loving sisters and brothers, Ella Mae (Thomas) Smiley, Nathan (Glenda) Hannans, Alvin Hannans, and Patricia Hannans-Alderman all of Folkston, GA; Ralph Hannans of Ft. Pierce, Florida, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, as well as his devoted partner, Marie Hill.

There will not be a wake/visitation. Remains will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 @ 2:00 pm at Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 416 Dixie Lake Road, Folkston, Ga. 31537.
