Obituary for Norman Jenkins Jr.

Deacon Norman L. Jenkins, Jr. was born on October 30, 1956 to the late, Norman L. Jenkins, Sr. and Lonzena Mungin in Jesup, Ga. Norman was educated in the Wayne County Training School and was a faithful member of Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and he was also a member of the choir. He was an entrepreneur of a tile business, Jenkins Tile Company that he was successful with. Norman’s hobbies included football, cooking, especially baking. Aside from that, Norman was creative and loved making people laugh. He was known by his family as somewhat of a “comedian “. He found great joy in praising God and spending time with his family and friends. Norman found great companionship in his dog “Buddy”.

God saw Norman getting weary of this world and called him home to rest on December 24, 2021 at Wellstar Health System in Griffin, Ga. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Jenkins, both parents, Norman, Sr. and Lonzena Mungin; two sisters, Sharlene McRae-Trice and Elizabeth Ann Jones and a brother, Eugene Jenkins.

Those left to cherish his memory: two children, Shalonda Spencer, Griffin, Ga. and Terrance Ellis (Elizabeth), Atlanta, Ga.; one grandson, Jaedon Watson, Griffin, Ga.; one sister, Jacqueline Rubiana, Miami, Fl.; three brothers, Gary McRae, Goshen, Indiana, Mitchell Jenkins (Linda), Atlanta, Ga. and Earl West ( Betty), Gardi, Ga.; his aunts, Lettie Drummer, Jesup, Ga. and Lucille Wade (Ernest), Dublin, Ga.; his uncle, Larry Jackson (Connie), Jesup, Ga.; a close friend, Richard Strickland and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

A walk thru viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 10 am until 1:00 pm at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545

Graveside services will be held following the viewing at 2:00 pm, at Jesup City Cemetery, Hwy 84, Jesup, Ga. 31545
