Obituary for Paul Bailey Jr.

Rev. Paul Joseph Bailey, Jr., 72, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on November 01, 2022, at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 23, 1950, to the late, Paul Joseph Bailey, Sr. and Doris Hudson Bailey in Jesup, Ga. (Doctortown). Paul was educated in the Wayne County Training School and graduated in the Class of 1967. Upon graduating from high school, he attended Savannah State College where he received a Bachelor Degree in physical education and later enrolled in ITC Seminary School where he received his Master Degree in Theology. Paul was first a member of Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church in Jesup, Ga., he then became a member of St. James Baptist Church in Ludowici, Ga., where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, and Deacon. He later became an Ordained Minister and served as the Pastor of St. John Baptist Church in Waycross, Ga. for eight years before his health began to fail. Aside from being a Minister, Paul was employed at Rayonier as a shift superintendent where he worked for 34 years before retiring. In his free time, Paul enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. He was also a member of Altamaha Lodge 321 in Jesup, Ga.

Paul was preceded in death by both parents, Paul and Doris Hudson Bailey, Sr.; a sister, Betty Washington and two brothers, Bobby Bailey and Israel Snyder.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 48 years, Christine Mallard Bailey, Jesup, Ga.; two sons, Terrance (Latoya) Bailey, Waycross, Ga. and Ryan Bailey, Jesup, Ga.; four grandchildren, Nailah Bailey, Madison Bailey, Harper and Mariah Bailey; two brothers, Charles (Linda) Bailey, Offerman, Ga. and Zachary (Deborah) Bailey of Jesup, Ga.; sisters in-law, Ann Chestnut (Joseph), Port Charlotte, Fl., Sylvia Cooper, Palatka, Fl., Arlene Mallard, McDonough, Ga. and Dr. Dolorse Mallard, Ludowici Ga.; brothers in-law, Eddie Mallard (Betty), Dumfries, Va., Daniel Washington, Offerman, Ga. and Gerald Mallard, Ludowici, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, November 06, 2022, at St. James Baptist Church, 37 Lincoln Street, Ludowici, Ga. 31316 from 4-6 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 07, 2022 @ 11:00 am at Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church, 401 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545
