Obituary for Pearlie Gibbs (McRea)

Pearlie Mae McRea-Gibbs, 86, a native of Folkston, Ga. and resident Hinesville, Ga. passed away on Wednesday, April 07, 2021 at Memorial Health in Savannah, Ga. She was born on March 30, 1935 to the late, Eddie Lee McRea, Sr. and Ida Bell McRea-Brown in Eastman, Ga. Pearlie worked most of her life as a domestic homemaker, keeping house, raising her children, helping to raise her grandchildren and helping in any way that she could. She spent many years living in Folkston, Ga. before relocating to Hinesville, Ga. to be closer to her children after the death of her husband, Otis "Bo" Gibbs. Pearlie loved to praise the Lord and was a member of Bishop Alphonso "Good Time" Johnson's church congregation in Valdosta, Ga. Aside from praising the Lord, she enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and spending time with the family. She was preceded in death by husband, Otis Gibbs and her children, Mary Gibbs, Johnny Otis Gibbs and Willie Earl Gibbs.

She leaves to mourn her passing: her loving children, Diana (Charlie ) Brown, Larry Gibbs, Evangelist Darlene (Tony) Redmon, Harry (Evangelist Sheila) Gibbs, Arthur (Jacqueline) Gibbs, Loretta Leonard, Anthony (Tammy) Gibbs, Patricia Gibbs, Shirley Gibbs; (31) grandchildren; (69) great grandchildren; (24) great great grandchildren, for a total of 124 grands and a host of sisters, brothers, cousins and friends that will miss her dearly.

A walk thru viewing will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 from 12 noon until 2p.m., at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 @ 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Cemetery Rd., Folkston, Ga. 31537


Everyone planning to attend must wear their mask and observe the 6 ft. social distancing guidelines set by local health dept. and the CDC.
