Obituary for Richard Beal

Richard Julius Beal, 86, of Odum, Ga. departed this life peacefully on February 15, 2023, at Appling Healthcare in Baxley, GA. He was born March 12, 1936, in Tattnall County, (Reidsville, Georgia) to the late, Clifford and Birdie Beal of Odum, Georgia. He attended Wayne County Training School and was a lifelong member of Odum Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman Deacon, a member of the Usher Board and he assisted with the custodial services. He spent many years working at several locations in Wayne County, which consisted of Wayne County Board of Education as a Bus Driver, Wayne Line, Mickey’s Meats and Bubba Burgers in Waycross, Ga.

Richard was united in Holy Matrimony to Rudine Beal on August 20, 1961, and to this union five children were born Willie, Priscilla, Cynthia, Vincent and Shanda. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, serving at his church and spending time laughing and sharing memories with his family and friends. Richard was a hardworking man who spent most of his time in the garden and sharing his crops with others.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Birdie Beal; his daughter, Priscilla Beal; three brothers, Nathaniel, Cleveland, and Paul Beal; six sisters in law, Janet Beal, Racine Carter, Margie Bailey, Gloria Clayton, Shirley Ingram and Evelyna Ingram; four brothers in law, Billy, Joby, Robert Lee and Eugene Ingram.

He is survived by his wife, Rudine Beal of Odum, GA; his children, Barbara (Fred) Tillman of Jesup, Ga; Willie Beal, Fort Myers, FL; Sebrenda (Johnny) Kemp of Winter Garden, FL; Cynthia (Arthur) Jones of Odum, GA, Vincent (Sherry) Beal of Baxley, GA; Shanda (Dexter) Thomas of Odum, GA; three sisters, Jeanette Fuquay of Jesup, GA; Rosemary Tillery of Odum, GA; Roberta (Ben) Cooper of Jesup, Georgia; one brother in law, Edward Ingram of Odum, GA; sisters in law, Betty Carol Beal of Reidsville, GA; Joanne Beal, of Elmira, NY; Winel Ivory of Baxley, GA and Bobbienell Ingram of Reidsville, GA; (19) grandchildren and a host of great grands, nieces, nephews and other family members.


A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Royal Funeral Home, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2024 @ 11:00 a.m. at New Life Ministries, 522 Walker Street, Jesup, Ga. 31546.
