Obituary for Roosevelt Key

Roosevelt Scott Key, 59, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fl. He was born on February 14, 1963 in Jesup, Ga. to the late, Robert James Key and Edith Wallace-Key. Roosevelt was educated in the Wayne County public school system and worked in the construction industry most of his life. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends. Roosevelt will forever be remembered as “that guy” that coined the phrase “Just Like That”. He would give you the shirt off of his back and would help anyone that he could. Roosevelt was a “die hard” Atlanta Falcons fan.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Robert and Edith Key and three brothers, Richard, Robert, Jr. and Henry Key.

Those left to cherish his memory: his children, Terry Key, Jesup, Ga., Roosevelt Key, Jr., Jesup, Ga., Brian Rankin, Savannah, Ga, and Rodrick Rankin of Jesup, Ga.; his grandchildren, Paisley Milledge, Riyon Rankin, Ziyan Rankin, Aaliyerah Rankin, Terriona Key, Rashona Rankin, Jalionna Rankin, Divinity Rankin, Mariah Norwood and Kymoni Johnson; three sisters, Lydia W. Gardner, Huntsville, Ga., Lonzena K. Jones, Atlanta, Ga. and Mary Keyhea, Jesup, Ga.; two brothers, Charlie Key, Jesup, Ga. and Larry (Shirley) Key, Warner Robins, Ga.; two uncles, Dwight (Diane) Wallace and a very close uncle Wendell Wallace, both of Jesup, Ga.; three aunts, Mildred Wallace and Verdell Thomas, both of Surrency, Ga. and Ida Lee (Otis Lee) Talley of Atlanta, Ga.; his close friends, Stan Leggett, Dee Roberson, Corey (Tiffany) James, Charles Bennett, Cedric Kinsey, Purnell Davis, Faye Gibson; a close niece, “Lil Bit” Cynthia Jones, Jesup, Ga.; a close nephew, Jamarcus Key, Jesup, Ga.; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.

A walk thru viewing will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 6-8 pm at Royal Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 @ New Creation Ministries, 3010 Lanes Bridge Road, Jesup, Ga. 31545
