Obituary for Sammie "Sam" Jackson Sr.

Sammie Lee Jackson, 73, known to those who love him as "Sam", passed away February 4, 2022 at the Jeff Davis Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Sammie was born September 3, 1948 in Wayne County to the late, John and Eula Mae Jackson. He was educated at Wayne County Training School, where he played the drums in the marching band. He served 30 plus years in the Army National Guard while working at Wayneline Inc. He also worked for McDaniel's Vending where he later retired.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Cheryl Jackson, of 41 years, his son, Mike Roberts, granddaughter, D'ana Jackson, his parents, John and Eula Mae Jackson, 3 brothers, Willie L. Curry, Robert Jackson, James E. Jackson, and two sister-in-laws, Ida Curry and Shirley Curry.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his eight children, Patrice (Rondy) Ellis, Jeremy (Casheena) Jackson and Jamaal Jackson, all of Jesup, GA, Samethia (Timothy) McKever of Hazlehurst, GA, Camarieo (Jessica) Jackson of Ludowici, GA, Natarsha (Stanley) Shellman of Columbus, MS, Sammie (Thuy) Roberts of Dalzell, SC and Elgin (Claudette) Roberts of Pooler, GA; twenty grandchildren, Sa'Nari, Ne'Keil, Cornelius, Zarriya, Jada, Ja'Liea, Jalen, Jamarianna, Jordan, Camarieo Jr., Octavius, Naterika, Jaxon, Antonio, Mya, Jaelynn, Erin, Jasmine, Ki'Ana, and Zae-Breian; six siblings, Josephine Reddish, Regina (James) Shipman, Bernard Curry, Joseph Jackson and John Jackson, Jr., all of Jesup, GA, Jimmy (Janice) Jackson of Dublin, GA; two sister-in-laws, Carolyn Lewis and Helen Flowers of Jesup, GA; seven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A walk thru viewing will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine St., Jesup, Ga. 31545 from 4-6 p.m.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 @ 11:00 a.m., at Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery, 1570 Sunset Blvd, Jesup, Ga. 31545.
