Obituary for Sandra Andrews (Andrew)

Ms. Sandra Francine Andrews was born on September 24, 1956, to the late, Sarah Day-Andrews and Deacon Seth Andrews, Jr., in Mt. Holly, New Jersey. Sandra received her education and graduated from Rancocas Valley Regional High School in the Class of 1974. Sandra continued her education at Coastal College where she studied to become a social worker.

During her life span, Sandra had worked several jobs, stemming from, Captain Joe’s Restaurant to Gateway Behavioral Health Services. She enjoyed crocheting, listening to music, reading, watching western movies, cooking, and baking. Her homemade yeast rolls, along with her chicken and dumplings, was a favorite among her family and friends. In her younger years, Sandra was known to “cut a rug” she loved to dance.

Sandra passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019, at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston, Ga., following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Sarah Day-Andrews; her grandmother, Martha Day; her sister, Valerie Andrews; and her great grandson, Alexander Nixon.

She leaves to mourn her passing: her loving father, Deacon Seth Andrews, Jr., Jesup, Ga.; her only child, Nakia C. Nixon, Pooler, Ga.; three grandsons, Jermaine (Maylin) Nixon, Jr., Jesup, Ga., Tevin Nixon, Hardwick, Ga., and Trey Payne, Statesboro, Ga.; three great grandchildren, Jayden, Nevaeh, and Keighan; three sisters, Lettie Rogers, Collingswood, NJ, Debra Andrews, Jesup, Ga., and Sherry Wilson, Jacksonville, Fl.; one brother, Steven (Amy) Andrews, Omaha, Nebraska; four uncles, James (Regina) Williams, Jesup, Ga., Joseph (Margaret) Day, Pooler, Ga., Thomas Day, Trenton, NJ, and Roy Day of Detroit, Michigan; two aunts, Gladys Johnson and Mary Andrews, both of Jesup, Ga.; a life long friend, Teresa Jones, Brunswick, Ga., and Ronessa Strickland-Roberts of Sanford, Fl., who was like a daughter.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, who will miss her dearly.
