Obituary for Shirley "Sal" Curry (Pryor)

Shirley Ann Curry, 74, of Jesup, Ga., passed away on Friday September 25, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah Georgia. Shirley was known by everyone as “Sal” was born on September 17, 1946, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late, Ruth Pryor. She was educated at the Wayne County Training School in Jesup, Georgia, and was a member of St. John First Born Holiness Church in Jesup, Georgia, where she served as the Church Mother. Shirley was disabled and spent her life as a homemaker, caring for her family, reading her bible, praising the Lord and connecting with friends and family on social media.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Willie Lee Curry, Sr., her grandmother, Rosa Lee Scott, her mother, Ruth Pryor, a loving granddaughter, D’anjunia Curry, who was known as (Tinker Bell) and her close friend and sister in law, Ida Mae Curry.

Those left to cherish her memories: her loving children, Burnell Griffin (Dante) and Virgil Curry, both of Willacoochee, Georgia, Faye Mathis, Waycross, Georgia, Willie (Iris), Curry, Jr., Louie Curry and Julia Holsey, Jesup, Georgia and Beatrice Curry of Claxton, Georgia; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lee (Roosevelt) Williams, Brunswick, Georgia, host of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in laws; and many special friends who were dear to her heart.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2020, @ 1 pm at Jesup City Cemetery, Jesup, Ga.
