Obituary for Susie Smith (Holmes)
Susie Mae Holmes Smith was born on August 8, 1937 in Wayne County, GA to the late, Simon and Essie Bell Holmes Sr. She was educated in Wayne County Training School, and she was a faithful member of the Mt. Mariah A.M.E Church, where she served in the choir ministry and helped in any capacity needed. Susie Mae Smith was employed with Georgia Narrow Fabric for 30 plus years until she retired. She will always be remembered as a sweet and loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and a person who will feed you any time of the day, especially on Sunday. Susie loved to laugh, sing, dance (bounce her shoulders), eat Oreo ice cream, and drive her Buick to Kmart.
Susie Mae Smith passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Essie Mae Bell and Simon Holmes Sr.; three children, Llyod Smith, Patricia Smith and Frankie Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memories: seven children, Larry Smith, Sivilla Fuller, Asa (Stephanie) Walker Jr., Susette (Anthony) Formey, Sonia Collins, Greg Smith, Doris (Steve) Stanley and Adari Smith; two brothers, Richard James (Phylis) Hunter and Willie Lawton; her 512 crew, Shannah Lewis, Kenesha (Quinton) Barnes, Shabrittny- Tootsie Lott, Kenneth J-Snimp (Kristina) Fuller, Daven Fuller, Anthony- ATF (KeAndra) Formey, Michael- M-Dub (Ninotshka) Formey, Lloyd Eugene Smith- Shorty, Breyonna Formey, and Patrick- Pat DZ Smith; her special grandkids, Larry Fullmore Jr, Ahkilah Weatherspoon, Xavier Walker, Christopher Smith, Saryah Barnes and Kaiden Barnes; her special great grandkids, Shabrea Sanders- Juicy, Zanea Formey, Kelsey Lewis, Zoe Lewis and Jayden Formey, and a host of other grandkids, great grandkids and her special friend, Maggie Cooper.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545 from 5-6 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 @ 11:00 a.m. at The Marketplace International Church, 420 Cedar Street, Jesup, Ga. 31546
