Obituary for Tonny "Clyde" Perry

Tonny Weston Perry aka "Clyde", 67, of Ludowici, Ga. passed away unexpectedly on March 03, 2023, at his residence. He was born on March 05, 1955, to the late, Richard Perry, Sr. and Elizabeth Johnson-Perry in Hinesville, Ga. He received his primary education at Walker High School in Long County, Ga. where he was part of the school band. Tonny was musically inclined and could play any instrument that he set his mind to. He was a member of New Hope AME Church and would occasionally attend other churches in the community. Tonny, like many back in the day, picked tobacco, worked as a cook, as a custodian with Long County Board of Eductaion and his last occupation was as a carpenter with Mr. Roy Lee Miller, who he had a long-standing father-son like relationship. He was a loving man that never met a stranger. Loved by so many.

Tonny enjoyed collecting antiques, fixing lawn mowers and anything that he could tinker with. Tonny also enjoyed fishing. He was well known in the community as "The Handyman" and was always willing to help anyone in need and was known for telling jokes and "trash talking". His favorite meal included fish, tatters and sweet iced tea. If you would ever see him coming, you had better be ready to laugh a while. And if you needed anything and he had it, it was yours.

Tonny was preceded in death by both parents, Richard and Elizabeth Perry, Sr.; two sisters, Clara Sue Perry and Janice Stewart and a brother, James Perry.

Those left to cherish his many memories: five children, Tony W. McCray, Horace James McCray -McClain (Katina), Tony W. Johnson (Patrice), Honey and Tony Straker; a brother, Richard Perry, Jr.; a sister, Iris Mallardan; aunt, Shirley Lanier; his grandchildren, Kalope McCray, Toni Johnson, Sharmarcus Smiley, DeAundrea Volcey, Danielle Slater, Alexandria Cody, Horace McCray, Jr., Raphael McClain and Eriyanna Barrett; (4) great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Sadie Perry; close friends, Price Chapman, Gary Futch and the Miller Family. Tonny was full of love and life and treated his nieces and nephews like his very own, Romanda Stewart, Rochelle Parks, Terrell Parks, Francine Stewart, Harold Parks, Monsanto Perry, Richard Perry III, Tonya Perry, Vonn Perry, James Perry, Aaron Lovette and Terra James; as well as other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
