Obituary for Vanessa Jenkins (Stafford)

Vanessa Stafford Jenkins, 57, of Folkston, Ga. passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Baptist Health Hospital, downtown Jacksonville, Fl. She was born on October 02, 1963 to the late, Nathaniel Stafford, Jr. and Genieve Williams-Stafford in Folkston, Ga. Vanessa was educated in the public school system of Charlton County and was reared as a child in Jerusalem Holiness Church. She spent most of her life as a homemaker.

Vanessa was a good person at heart, but rarely ever minced words with anyone. She was known for speaking her mind and being very outspoken, always willing to “give you the business”, although, sometimes she would apologize. Vanessa did not have any biological children of her own.

She was preceded in death by her father, Nathaniel Stafford, Jr.; her brothers, Nathaniel Stafford III and McGarrett Stafford; and her aunt and uncle, Johnny Lee and Catherine Stafford.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving mother, Genieve Williams-Stafford, Folkston, Ga.; her companion, Barkus Hamilton, Folkston, Ga.; her sisters, Jennifer (Brad) Milton, Folkston, Ga. and Melissa (Anthony) Melton of Jacksonville, Fl.; her brothers, Timothy Stafford, Ervin (Suzanne) Stafford and Adam (Ethel) Stafford, all of Folkston, Ga. and Dennis Stafford of Dallas, Tx.; children that were adopted and raised by her mother and father that were like siblings, Devonte Stafford and Jonathan T. Ferguson, Folkston, Ga. and Samandra Bender of Jacksonville, Fl.; her uncle, Willie (Diana) Williams, Folkston, Ga.; her aunts, Frankie Mae Lambert, Nellie (Gardene) Allison, Jacksonville, Fl. and Lovie (Charlie) Davis of Folkston, Ga.; close church family, Elder Terrance Pender and Barbara Smiley; devoted friends, Marilyn (Steve) Smiley, Folkston, Ga. and Angela Lowe of Byron, Ga.; as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Graveside services will be held on April 25, 2021 @ 1:00 p.m., at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Folkston, Ga.
