Obituary for Verna Ryals (Darden)

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven".

Ms. Verna Darden-Ryals was born to Ms. Ramona Boswell and Joe L. “Sarge” Darden on June 12, 1963, in Tacoma, Washington. She attended public school in Wayne County and graduated from Wayne County High School. Verna received her Cosmetology License at Altamaha Technical College in Jesup, Georgia, Culinary Arts Diploma from Irwin County Technical College, Home Health Certificate from Columbia, South Carolina, and Foster Parenting Certificate from Columbia, South Carolina. Verna recently became a Wayne Memorial Hospital Volunteer.

Verna was a loving mother and caretaker. Her love for children led her to become a Foster Parent and Direct Support Specialist for those with Special Needs and Disabilities. Verna was a certified culinary specialist who loved cooking. She would feed or clothe anyone in need. She loved spending time with her family, traveling, shopping and cooking. She had a very unique style and didn’t mind dressing up.

On Saturday morning, October 02, 2021, Verna loosed her earthly grip, and took a hold to God’s hand. She was predeceased by her parents, Ramona Boswell, and Joe L. “Sarge” Darden (Rosa) and brother, Larry Bonham.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Tashika Darden, Tyressa Ryals, Therone Ryals, Stephanie Mack, Ashley Mack, Trey Mack; grandchildren, Bobby (BJ), Demetrick (Chi Chi), Therone, Quinton, Dexter, Joe, Ziah, Olivia, Mazi, Kori, Sevyn, Quinton, and her beloved dog, JJ Mackie Mack; brothers, Joe L. Darden, Jr. (Tyra); like her brothers, Milton Bonham (Ida), Lonnie Michael Bonham and Lonnie Bonham, Jr.; sisters, Marianne Muller and Gabi Muller; like her sister, Debra Towns; like her children, Paige Milledge and Raymond Green; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A walk thru viewing will be held from 5:00 -7:00 pm on Friday, October 08, 2021 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 E. Pine Street, Jesup, GA 31545.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 09, 2021 @ 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery, 1580 Sunset Blvd. Jesup, GA 31545.
