Obituary for Walter Booth Jr.

Walter George Booth, Jr., 72, of Odum, Ga. passed away on August 20, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Jesup, Ga. He was born on January 26, 1949 to the late, Walter George Booth, Sr. and Ruth Hamby-Booth in Lumpkin, Ga. Walter received his education from Willingston Public School System in North Carolina. After school Walter entered the U.S. Army in 1973, where he spent five years serving his country. After returning home, Walter worked and retired from CSX Railroad. He was a member of Odum Grove Baptist Church. Walter loved fishing and spending time with his family.

Walter was preceded in death by both parents, Walter G. Booth, Sr. and Ruth Hamby-Booth; his brothers, Ronald and Tommy Lee; his sisters, Pearl, Jacquelyn and Louise.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 19 years, Geraldine Truitt-Booth, Odum, Ga.; two daughters, Pamela Age and DeCarla (Nicholas) Hardy; two sons, Walter (Terra) Booth and John A. Booth; his step children, Felton (Shirley) Moore, Arthur (Cynthia) Jones, Willie (Belinda) Jones, Teresa Lanier, and Russell Truitt; his brothers, Donell (Linda) Booth and Allen Booth; his sisters, Carolyn Weatherspoon, Regina Jacobs, Georgia Moore, Walter Booth, III and Dee (Nick) Deca; his in-laws, Glenda Moore, Barber Randell and Gloria (Mitch) Frazier and Clifford (Sarah) Moore; special grands, Antonio Lanier, Trent Lanier and Janmes Lanier, Jr. "Muddfoot"; his favorite cousins, Anna Fennell and Francis Boynton; special friends, Marvin Johnson, Speedy Genwrighter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, as well as, other grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A walk thru viewing will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. An additional viewing will be held one hour prior to services on Friday at the cemetery.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 @ 10:00 a.m. at Screven Cemetery in Screven,Ga.
