Obituary for Wilbur Swint Jr.

Wilbur Swint, Jr., 66, a resident of California for the past 38 years, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Rosevilla Nursing Home following a lengthy illnness. He was born on June 24, 1955 to the late, Wilbur Swint, Sr. and Pearlean McMiller in Soperton, Ga. Wilbur attended Wayne County Training School and graduated from Old Wayne County High School in 1974. In 1981 Wilbur joined the United States Army and after three years of service, he returned home and was gainfully employed at Sea Pak Corporation in Brunswick, Ga. where he developed close relationships with some of his co-workers. He was close friends with David Attical, Bobby Charles Keyhea and his cousin, Angela.

He later, decided to move to Los Angeles, California to live with his aunt, Burine Armstrong. As a young boy, Wilbur was raised to respect and love the Lord by his loving mother and became a member of St. John First Born Holiness Church alongside his siblings, Michael, Gail and Herschel, under the leadership of Bishop Avery Jewel Myles. His love for Bishop Myles and the church congregation never ceased. When he would come home, Wilbur took time to fellowship with his home church. His prayer for the family and church was that we all gained a sense of understanding and unity among each other. Wilbur gave his life to Christ and was baptized under the leadership of Bishop McMurray, whom he loved and later, became a member under the leadership of Bishop Noel Jones, and served on the Usher Board and the Security Team Ministry. Wilbur shared many happy memories with his family in Georgia of the City of Refuge and Noel Jones Ministries through souvenir booklets, tapes, CD's and DVD's. As his health began to fail, Wilbur's love for Bishop Jones and City of Refuge never diminished. After his health would no longer allow him to live on his own, Wilbur was placed in the Rosevilla Nursing Facility in Lakewood, California, where he received excellent care under the direction of Dr. Eric Tate and the nursing facilitators who played a major role in the medical treatment of Wilbur.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Wilbur, Sr. and Pearlean Swint, his siblings, Gail and Herschel Swint; and a loving niece, Shiffonda Wiggins.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving brother and friend, Elder Michael E. (Jackie) Swint, Jesup, Ga.; a loving niece, Joyce Marie Moore, Blackshear, Ga.; two aunts, Burine Armstrong, Los Angeles, Ca. and Pastor Mammie Lee (Givens) Bryant, Screven, Ga.; a loving sister-in-law, Pastor Cheryl Swint, Jesup, Ga.; a close friend, Walter, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.
