Obituary for William "Poodie Blaze" Cooper

William Paul Cooper, aka, "Poodie Blaze", 44, of Jesup, Ga. passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 01, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 24, 1976 to the late, William Paul Cooper and Sandra Nell Sease, in Los Angeles, Ca. William was educated in the public school system of Wayne County, Ga. and graduated in the Class of 1996. He was a member of the Yellow Jackets Football Team and a member of Mt. Mariah AME Church, since his early childhood. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling. His work history included his tenure at Georgia Narrow Fabrics, American Welding and his present job, of which he spent 10 plus years, Rayonier. Before being hired at Rayonier, William attended ATC to further his knowledge of pulp and paper products.

William was preceded in death by his biological father, William Paul Cooper; his father that raised him, Lloyd E. Smith; and his father in-law, Willie T. Lanier.

Those left behind to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 21 years, Melissa Cooper, Jesup, Ga.; his son, William Cooper, Jesup, Ga.; his loving mother, Sandra Nell Sease-Smith, Jesup, Ga.; his sisters, Stacey Smith, Jesup, Ga. and Latoya Hall, Jacksonville, Fl.; a brother, Lloyd Smith III (Syreeta), Kileen, Tx.; his mother in-law, Shirley Lanier, Jesup, Ga.; his sisters in-law, Bobbie (James) Houston, Sharon (Alex) Jenkins and Teisha Lanier, all of Jesup, Ga.; two nephews, Elijah and MarQuez Smith, both of Jesup, Ga.; his godson, Titus X. Wallace; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

There will not be a wake/visitation. Remains will be viewed from 9:00 am until 10:00 a.m. on the day of the graveside services.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 06, 2021 @ 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery, 1580 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, Ga. 31545.

Immediate family will gather at William's residence following services. Those in attendance are asked to wear your masks and adhere to the social distancing guidelines set by local health officials. Your cooperation in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
