Obituary for Willie Carter

Willie James Carter, 85, of Jesup, Ga. passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Liberty Regional Hospital. He was born on October 28, 1938 to the late, Ananise and Lillie Mae Rosen-Carter, Sr. in Alma, Ga. He received his early years of education in the Bacon County School System and worked most of his adult life in the timber harvesting industry, dipping turpentine and pulpwood. He later worked as a landscaper throughout the county. Willie was a member of Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church of Jesup, Ga. When he wasn’t working, Willie enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Willie was preceded in death by both parents, Ananise and Lillie Mae Carter, Sr.; his siblings, Lucille Owens, Bernice Allen, Norma Jean Carter, Leila Mae Carter, Collis Carter, Ananise Carter, Jr., Herman Carter and Sinclair Carter.

Those left to cherish his memory: his son, Frank Simpson; his stepchildren, Nathaniel Nix and Regina Reddish; his sister, Geraldine Carter; his brothers, Sylvester (Arrewintha) Carter and Connell Carter; as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545 from 4-6 pm

Funeral services will be held at the Royal Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 am. Interment in Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery following services.
