Obituary for Willie Jones

Willie Mack Jones was born on February 15, 1954 to the late, Sam Jones, Jr. and Eliza Mae Jones in Quitman, Ga. and was reared by his uncle the late, Willie Mack and Geraldine Jones, also of Quitman, Ga. Willie Mack was educated in the public school system of Brooks County and graduated in 1972. He was always a very hard worker having worked at IAP Processing at the Port in Brunswick, Ga., Foley Construction Company, AJM Packaging Company, Gilman Papermill and his last job being at Crown Laundry Company. His hobbies were fixing broken vehicles. He was a mechanic and there wasn’t much that he could not fix. Aside from that, Willie Mack loved spending time with his grandchildren and really aimed to be the Best Grandfather to them. He loved his family.

Willie Mack passed away unexpectedly on January 17, 2024. He was preceded in death by both parents, Sam Jones, Jr. and Eliza Mae Jones, his uncle that raised him, Willie Mack Jones (Geraldine); two sisters, Gloria Jean Hardy and Geraldine Jones; a niece, Natasha Overstreet.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of (47) years, Charlette Honester Jones, Jesup, Ga.; his son, Willie Mack Jones, Jr. (Kenoa Johnson), Athens, Ga.; like a daughter, Damali Young, Quitman, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Selena Smith (Pastor Daniel), Jesup, Ga. and Aletha Fuller (Travis), Brunswick, Ga.; two brothers, Sammie Lee Jones and Lee Andrew Jones (Debra), both of Folkston, Ga.; eight sisters, Georgia Lee (Melvin) Austin, Quitman, Ga., Sandra Jones (Chris), Elizabeth (Edward) Mincey, Lisa (Terry) Baker, Annie Mae (Anthony) Abdullah, Eliza Mae (Solomon) Overstreet, all of Folkston, Ga., Teresa Nicole and (Tatiuna Carroll, niece), both of Fayetteville, NC, Monica D. Jones (Tony), Jacksonville, Fl.; two uncles, Bobby Jones, Orlando, Fl. and John Ivey, Waycross, Ga.; two aunts, Mary Elizabeth Stove, Orlando, Fl. and Alice Jones of Hinesville, Ga.; his in- laws, Rebecca Shellman, Jacksonville, Fl., Yvette Clayton, Folkston, Ga. and Elizabeth Lee (Sandy), Nahunta, Ga., Ricky Lee (Joan), St. Augustine, Fl. and Jimmie Honester of Jacksonville, Fl.; his grandchildren, Miche’lla, Andrea, Shayllie, Mackenzie, Payton, Jamea Jones, Heaven, Nevah Davis, Javaris, Selisa Johnson; a host of great grandchildren; a close friend, Willie “Jodie” Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

There will not be a wake/visitation. Remains will lie in state one hour (1-2:00 pm) prior to funeral services.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 @ 2:00 PM at Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 416 Dixie Lake Road, Folkston, Ga. 31537.

A Private disposition will be held following services.
