Obituary for Willie Maxwell

Willie Maxwell, 69, of Folkston, Ga., passed away on July 22, 2021 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Ga. following a lengthy illness. He was born on January 14, 1952 to the late, Tommy Lee and Louise E. Dasher-Maxwell, Sr. in Charlton County, Ga. (Traders Hill). He was educated in Mary Bethune School and entered into the Job Corps in Utah. He was a former employee of Union Camp, Gilman Paper Mill and he also worked in the Timber Industry. He was loved by many and was always helpful to others. Will had a genuine love for his children and grandchildren. The one thing that everyone agreed to was that he was known for his love of dancing. Will was a “dancing machine “ even after his unfortunate amputation. Will loved life and lived it to the fullest.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gregory A. Maxwell, his grandson, Terrance T. Whitley and his sisters, Mary Maxwell and Gerlean Walker.

Those left to cherish his memory: his children, Wanda Maxwell, Folkston, Ga., Tameka Mitchell, Kingsland, Ga., Cartena Maxwell, Folkston, Ga. and a step daughter, Kesha Thomas of Brunswick, Ga.; three brothers, Tommy Lee, Jimmy (Gwen) and James (Diane) Maxwell, all of Folkston, Ga.; two sisters, Ruby (David) Monroe and Barbara (Martin) Monroe, both of Folkston, Ga; an aunt, Doretha Dasher, Folkston, Ga.; close friends, Dwight Dasher, Lola Ingram and Anthony Beasley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
